Fergus Drennan To Host Wild Night Out Of Foraging

LucyCooks, the Lake District Cookery School, has its first ever foraging event in its foodie diary as it prepares to stage a wild night out l on Friday September 23, with ‘The Wild Man of Food’, Fergus Drennan
, aka The Road Kill Chef.
Fergus will be hosting an evening’s Demo and Dine event based on foraged food, at the state-of-the-art cookery school based in Staveley, near Kendal, showing guests how to prepare the foods he has foraged as a hunter-gatherer, from the local area.
Fergus the Forager’, as he is known, was the star of the 2007 BBC series ‘The Roadkill Chef’ and is a rather eccentric road kill connoisseur.  He is a passionate forager and will spend a full day combing woods, hedgerows and riverbanks to harvest ingredients for a tantalising four-course meal served at LucyCooks.
Whether he offers up a pigeon breast, wild mushrooms or hare and regardless of whether it be served with a cauliflower fungus, wild garlic bulbs or a nettle puree, the menu will be wholly unique and an amazing insight into the life of a man who has dedicated his life to living on what nature provides.

Once the group has enjoyed a reconnoitre by the banks of the River Kent and downed a LucyCooktail, it will turn its focus to the forage, settling down in the cosy LucyCooks AGA room to listen to Fergus’s tales and watch him prepare his wild food.
When the ‘native’ four courses have been rustled up, diners will be able to treat their taste buds to unique sensations and tuck in to a menu that will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, prepared by an expert in his field, campsite and den!
This unique Demo and Dine experience costs £65 per head, inclusive of demonstration and talk from Fergus Drennan, the four-course meal and welcome LucyCooktail  The advice is to book tickets quickly by heading to www.lucycooks.co.uk or calling 015394 32288.
